Firefighter turns up the heat

MEN in uniform may attract female attention - but it will be men out of uniform who will have ladies talking this week.

Former Warwick fireman Dale Sorensen said he would head to the Rose City to help promote the 2012 Firefighters Calendar, aimed at raising funds for the Royal Children's Hospital Burns Centre.

Mr Sorensen - a regular in the calendar since 1998 - said he did not appear in it this year but Rose City residents had the chance to see him in the flesh Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Rose City Shoppingworld.

Mr Sorensen spent three years working at the Warwick Fire Station.

"I haven't been out there for a few years so I am looking forward to it," he said.

"I really enjoyed myself in Warwick and I always thought one day I'd like to go back."

He said he hoped to add to the $750,000 which had been raised for the burn centre so far through calendar sales.

"I have had a little bit to do with burnt children myself, so it's something I don't mind doing," Mr Sorensen said.

Calendars are $10.
