Firefighters battle Elbow Valley blaze

MULTIPLE urban and rural fire crews are battling to contain a large bushfire at Elbow Valley east of Warwick this afternoon.

The fire was reported around midday and is burning in light country to the west of Cullendore Rd, several kilometres past the Cherrabah turnoff.

At this stage firefighters do not expect the fire to jump the road to the east, as long as the current light wind conditions prevail.

A possible shower this afternoon may also assist in stopping the spread of the fire.   It is understood a private burnoff got out of hand.

No property is directly threatened by the fire at this stage.

Updates to follow.
