Police believe Warwick house fire may be suspicious
UPDATE 10am: Police believe a house fire on Myrtle Avenue could be suspicious.
A spokeswoman from Queensland Police Services said the cause of the fire was unknown but it would be treated as suspicious until investigators could assess the scene.
As soon as the scene is cool enough, police will enter the premises to investigate the blaze.
Three fire crews from Warwick were called to the scene about 9.28pm where a pergola had been engulfed by flames.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze to the rear of the house, preventing damage to the rest of the building.
The house was vacant when the fire began and no one was injured.
The fire was brought under control about 9.59pm and a fire investigation team is expected to attend the scene today.
INITIAL 7am: A house on Myrtle Avenue caught on fire last night with fire crews rushing to the Warwick street to contain the blaze.
Three fire crews from Warwick were called to the scene about 9.28pm where the back of the home was in flames.
A spokeswoman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said firefighters gained entry to the house, which was vacant at the time of the fire.
The fire was contained to the rear of the house and no damage was done to the rest of the premises.
No one was injured in the blaze.
