Fires quickly under control

QUICK action by the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) from Warwick and two rural brigades averted a fire threat to a house on Freestone Road at Clintonvale at noon yesterday.

A QFRS spokeswoman said about one hectare of grass was engulfed.

“The fire was under control about 1pm and all firefighters had left the scene by 1.47pm,” she said.

The house is up on a knoll and the southerly wind was blowing the fire back towards the house.

In other news, a fire crew from Warwick responded to a tractor fire at Canningvale at 2.26pm yesterday.

The tractor was well involved when the fire crew arrived on scene and the fire had set a small amount of grass alight.

A QFRS spokeswoman said the crew from Warwick had the fire out quickly so the rural brigade was not required.

“The crew left the scene at 3.20pm.”
