Spring heralds new start for QCWA

IT WAS a beautiful first day of spring when the Queensland Country Women's Association (QCWA) Border Division swore in its new office bearers for 2011-2012.

Invited guests Southern Downs Regional Councillor Ross Bartley, his wife Sandra, and Member for Southern Downs Lawrence Springborg were among 60 people who witnessed the handing over of the reins.

Division president Jenny Whitsed will oversee the office bearers, consisting of division secretary Joyce Fearby, vice-president for Killarney zone Jenny Whitsed, vice-president for Granite Belt zone Judy Leech, vice-president for Karara zone Noeline Rumball, division international officer Kris Cole and press secretary Shirley Erhardt.

QCWA is one of the largest women's organisations in Queensland, where all women over 16 years are welcome.

There are more than 4500 members in hundreds of branches across the state.
