First patients get a dental check-up
THE new Griffith University Dental Clinic is up and running and took in its first lot of patients yesterday.
This dental clinic is a little different to the others around the region as the dentists are supervised fifth year dental students.
Clinic manager of Griffith Health Clinics Yvonne Duncombe said as the patients were being seen by students patients were given a discounted rate.
"It gives students experience in a rural setting and makes them realise that they can come back once they have finished their degree," she said.
"It is just another way community members can access dentists."
At the moment there are 11 students at the clinic, who will be there for the next six weeks.
Mrs Duncombe said every six weeks there would be a new set of students.
There is no need for referrals or private health cover in order to book an appointment at the clinic.
And if you book in for an appointment before July 26 you will get a free comprehensive examination and scale and clean.
