First baby of the new year
WHILE most across the Southern Downs were guzzling champagne and partying beneath the fireworks, Kirsty Thomson and Colin Lay were celebrating for another reason.
At 5.34am on New Year's Day, Ms Thomson gave birth to their baby girl.
Jasmelia Thomson weighed in at 4060g and was the first Warwick baby to enter the world in 2012.
Jasmelia's father, Colin Lay, waited anxiously to meet his baby girl and could not wipe the smile from his face when that time arrived.
Proud as punch, parents Ms Thomson and Mr Lay said this was their first child together.
"She has two older half-brothers," Mr Lay said.
The pair said naming their daughter was an indecisive process, but they settled on Jasmelia - a mixture of Jasmine and Amelia.
From this day on, New Year's Day will be an even more special occasion for this family and filled with moments that create their own celebration.
