Five boxers eye off the Spiders night

BOXING: Five boxers from the Rose City club will head to Caboolture for the Spiders Tournament on Saturday.

Club publicity officer Peter McMahon said he was hoping all five would be matched as it was the final hit-out before the Queensland Golden Gloves Titles on August 21-24.

"We compete at the Spiders tournament each year," he said.

Britnee Wallace (54kg), Jacko McMahon (70kg), Jacob Wyllie (54kg), Lachlan Roche (66kg) and Randy Gonzales (75kg) are all heading to Caboolture.

The first fight will be at 4pm Saturday with boxing going to 10pm.

The club has seven boxers improving their skills under head trainer Damien Lawler.

There are seven more doing fitness work with some expected to box in the future.

Training is each weekday at 3.15-5pm at the Warwick Boxing Club Gym at the western end of Albert St. More recruits welcome to meet officials at boxing training.
