Five mammoth events you need in your life

BRISBANE isn't known for doing things by halves…

This summer, it's got a whopper of an events calendar and it continues to grow.

Don't miss these five major events:

1. Brisbane Global Rugby Tens - February 11-12

More than 300 star players will invade Brisbane this February as the city plays host to the Brisbane Global Rugby Tens. There will be 10 Australian and New Zealand Super Rugby clubs, plus elite teams from South Africa, Samoa, Japan and France powerhouse team Toulon to ensure every footy fan's desires are well and truly exceeded.

2. World Science Festival Brisbane - March 22-26

Last year's World Science Festival Brisbane saw more than 120,000 attendees across the various events. This year, it's shaping up to be even bigger. Don't miss this amazing festival featuring challenging discussions and live performances about science, technology, engineering and maths, with loads of interesting and fun things to see and do. 3. My Fair Lady - From March 14

Directed by Julie Andrews, My Fair Lady is coming to QPAC and it's got a stellar cast in tow. Downton Abbey star Charles Edwards is Henry Higgins, Anna O'Byrne is Eliza Doolittle, Reg Livermore plays Alfred P Doolittle, Robyn Nevin is Mrs Higgins and Mark Vincent stars is Freddy. The role of Colonel Pickering is played by Tony Llewellyn-Jones and Deidre Rubenstein is Mrs Pearce.

4. GOMA turns 10 - until April 17

To celebrate its 10th birthday, the Gallery of Modern Art is putting on a show to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. And you'll see something similar on the walls. Sugar Spin: You, Me, Art and Everything is on at GOMA until mid-April and it's a fun exhibition that explores light, space and the senses. Ride on a giant slide, play with LEGO and experience an exhibition like no other. Get there soon because it only turns 10 once!

5. NRL Brisbane Double-header - May 13

Footy fans, all your dreams have come true at once. An NRL double-header will kick off at Suncorp Stadium on May 13 when the Melbourne Storm takes on the Gold Coast Titans, and the Manly Sea Eagles play the Brisbane Broncos straight afterwards.
