Editorial: Flood warning ignored

'THAT is about as high as we want it' was the comment from a bystander near Madsen Bridge as we looked at the water in the Condamine River yesterday.

The water was well below even minor flood levels but still served as a reminder that Warwick is subject to flooding from rain like that which hit the south-east on Friday.

I have never seen as many people lining up to make use of the waste disposal area at Morgan Park as I did on Saturda, all with green waste following a windy Friday night.

It is sad to see the damage that the storm did but we were lucky here.

Tragically some people died in the storm.

This despite a widespread campaign so the warnings must continue loud and clear.

If it's flooded forget it.

As a father, if there is any doubt about conditions I say no.

If I drive through water I am passing on the wrong message to my sons.
