Flooding stops closure at the Gap

THE planned temporary closure at Cunningham's Gap tonight has been postponed due to flooding on the Cunningham Hwy at Yelarbon (between Goondiwindi and Warwick).

The oversized load was planned to leave Goondiwindi yesterday morning and arrive at Fisher Park Truck Stop at Maryvale later in the day, before travelling through Cunningham's Gap tonight.

A Department of Transport and Main Roads announcement said further information would be provided as soon as new arrangements were made for the move.

The convoy was the second oversized load carrying a piece of equipment bound for use in the Canadian nickel industry.

The Cunningham Hwy was still closed yesterday afternoon at Kurumbul near the Munda Rest Stop and at Shaws Corner, Yelarbon, because of water over the road.

The Yelarbon Keetah Rd was also reported as being closed yesterday afternoon.

It is not yet clear when they will reopen.

More thunderstorms are predicted for the Warwick area today, with possible thunderstorms expected throughout the rest of the week.
