Flooding thickens highway traffic

THE closure of the Pacific Highway in New South Wales due to flooding has caused heavy traffic on the New England and Cunningham Highways, including at Cunningham’s Gap.

A Mains Roads spokesman said stop-go traffic control remains in place at Cunningham’s Gap and the current roadworks have been reduced to allow the heavy traffic to flow through the work site.

Motorists are advised to expect longer delays.

Traffic is also understood to be increasing along the Mount Lindesay Rd between the NSW Northern Rivers region and the Southern Downs.
