Football grand finals at Queens Park on Saturday
AFTER winning the minor premiership and then the major semi-final, Danny Lyons Sports will start favourites in Saturday's under-17 grand final in Warwick football.
All players in all age groups will be involved from 8.30am Saturday with presentations at noon.
The Danny Lyons Sports team is jointly coached by Mark Brunt and Scott Clegg and will play Voyage Fitness, which was second at the end of fixtures.
"We won the major semi-final 3-0 against Voyage but they are a tough team,” Brunt said.
"Most of the games between the two teams this year have been close.”
Brunt said two of the top players in his team were Sam Wall at centre midfield and Declan Clegg as a striker.
"Angus McKay has been our goalie all season and stops most of the opposition shots at goal,” he said.
Brunt said Cameron Darton and Alex Ristuccia were two of the Voyage Fitness players his team would have to stop.
"I only expect there will be a couple of goals in the result,” Brunt said.
Peter Darton coaches the Voyage Fitness team, which has had some players out with injury this season.
They didn't field a full team in the preliminary final and won by one, so are in good enough form to press the minor premiers today at Queens Park.
The U17 grand final is at 10am and will be followed by a game between association sponsors and team coaches.
