Students show appreciation with donations for Adopt-A-Family
FOR the second year in a row the Warwick Red Cross workers have been left stunned by the efforts of the Warwick State High School Flexi-Campus students in the Adopt-A-Family appeal.
Their hampers were packed tight with festive food, snacks, drinks, lollies and a range of presents.
Standing out was the two-storey doll house complete with a working elevator.
Student Glenn Ryan-Mason said taking part in the appeal was a rewarding experience.
"We tried to think of gifts that the family would be able to use," he said.
"The community have helped us out a lot this year with donations and this is our way to give back."
Warwick Red Cross project co-ordinator Joanne McKinnon said the students had done a wonderful job.
"They were one of the schools that rang us looking for a family to adopt before the lists were even in the paper," she said.
"I know I have used these words a lot but awesome and amazing are the only way to describe the students' efforts.
"They really have done a top job and thought of the things that every family will need this Christmas."
All Adopt-A-Family hampers and gifts are due back to the Red Cross office on Guy St by December 9.
Then the delivery team can distribute them to needy families before the Christmas season.
