New playground stands out

TOMORROW is the day the fencing comes down and Warwick kids can finally try out the new playground in Victoria Park.

The bright new equipment has been teasing passing youngsters for weeks, as council workers put the finishing touches on it.

New soft fall and turf will surround the new structure, which features revamped versions of the older equipment, including two slides, a fireman's pole and a noughts and crosses game.

Nearby Australiana Park is also set to receive some shiny new equipment by the end of the financial year, ensuring Warwick children are spoiled for play choice.

A council spokesman said Leslie Park had also kept workers busy of late.

"Leslie Park will also have 150sqm of turf placed along the edge of the new pathway that has been completed in the last few weeks," she said.

The spokeswoman said Warwick parks were not alone in getting makeovers.

"Memorial Park in Allora is getting a facelift with approval from the RSL to remove a very old privet hedge that was an eyesore and replace it with a new photinia hedge.

"As this original garden hedge had no kerbing or garden edging around it, council staff have installed sandstone block edging and will also place a cement edge on the outside of the block work to keep maintenance to a minimum.

"The finished look will be outstanding."

The spokeswoman said turf would also be placed around the new garden beds and the project would be complete by the end of the month.
