Former Hockeyroo to enlighten sport stars
SPORTS STARS: Long time Australian hockey representative Kerry Wharton will be guest speaker at the Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Senior Sports Star of the Year dinner on Monday at the Warwick RSL Memorial Club.
Wharton played outdoor hockey for Australia from 1980-1984 and indoor hockey for her country from 1985-1990.
She was a selector for the Australian women's hockey team from 1998-2008, a period which included two Olympic gold medals.
Wharton moved to Warwick in 2013 as deputy principal at Warwick State High School. She is a regular in club competitions at the Warwick Golf Club.
A crowd of around 100 will be at the awards night on Monday from 6pm at the Warwick RSL Memorial Club. A trophy will be presented to each monthly winner.
Tickets are still on sale at the Daily News front counter and those attending are asked to purchase tickets as soon as possible.
