Former NRL star Wicks’ application to play rejected
FORMER Newcastle Knight Danny Wicks will not play for Lower Clarence Magpies this year.
Wicks was released from jail 18 months into a three year term for drug trafficking last year, and was suspended by the National Rugby League for four years for the same offence.
The suspension, which is the minimum penalty under the World Anti-Doping Authority, is due to end in September.
The Magpies made an ambitious play for the powerhouse front-rower, but the application was rejected earlier this week.
