Former premier beats the chill

MR Thomas Joseph Byrnes will no longer be stone-cold since kind-hearted Jumpers & Jazz organisers replaced his beanie and scarf in time for the quirky winter festival.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, the “dressing” of Mr Byrnes, former premier of Queensland and MLA of Warwick, took place, much to the delight of passers-by yesterday and today.

This exercise heralds the countdown to Warwick’s quirky winter festival … Jumpers & Jazz in July.

Every year, local textile artist Dawn Booth is commissioned to create new winter finery for Mr Byrnes.

In line with the 2011 colour palette, Mr Byrnes’ scarf and beanie are streaked with vibrant purple.
