Four injured when truck, utes crash

FOUR people have been airlifted by emergency helicopter to hospital with various injuries following a traffic accident 40km east of Goondiwindi.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said emergency services were called to the accident on the Cunningham Hwy near Yelarbon about 11.45pm Sunday.

The crash involved a prime mover and two utility vehicles.

A Police Media spokeswoman said a 39-year-old woman with head and wrist injuries, a 15-year-old girl with an altered state of consciousness and a 14-year-old boy with lower back pain from one utility had been airlifted to hospital.

A 39-year-old man from that vehicle was reported as having escaped serious injury. It is believed the four were from the Gold Coast.

A 17-year-old man from Mt Gravatt in the other utility had been airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane with head injuries, the spokeswoman said.

The 59-year-old truck driver was reported as having escaped any serious injury.

The cause of the accident is under police investigation.
