Four players make Downs teams

FOUR Southern Downs players have made Darling Downs primary school teams this season.

In the 11 years age group, Taegan Inmon and Sam Ogden (St Mary's) and Mitchell Bourke (Scots PGC) played in a possibles and probables game at the trials in Toowoomba after teams from the Southern Downs were selected to try out.

Five-eighth Sam Ogden will play for Darling Downs in the state championships in Rockhampton from July 2-6.

Former Toowoomba Clydesdales player Scott Schultz, of Goondiwindi, who played all his junior footy at Millmerran, will be coach.

Prop Tino Stowers (St Mary's), back rower Noah Kiria (Warwick West) and centre Lachlan Henry (St Patrick's, Allora) made the 12 years regional teams.

James Wallace (Warwick East), Cruise Martin-Brown (Glennie Heights), Dylan H-Cullen (Leyburn) and Jack McIvor (Yangan) played in the possibles and probables 12 years selection trial.

Former Toowoomba Brothers player Jamie Wann will coach the 12 years team and Mick Grew (St Joseph's, Stanthorpe) will be trainer.

The state carnival will be held in Ipswich from June 20-26. Six rounds will be played before a possibles and probables match.

Two Queensland primary school 12 years sides will be selected from the carnival, with Grew to be an official for one state team.
