Rose City resident celebrates

THERE was plenty to celebrate this weekend as Rose City resident Marie Booth reached the milestone of 80 and shared her day with close friends and family.

Her cousin, bridesmaid and dear friend Mary Ryan made the trip from Melbourne and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.

“It’s great I wouldn’t have missed it,” Mrs Ryan said.

“We have shared a lot of adventures and memories together.”

There were about 80 guests at the Warwick Golf Course on Saturday coming from all over Australia with her daughters coming from Adelaide and Brisbane.

Mrs Booth said it was an exciting day and it was lovely to have all her friends and family together for the celebrations.

“I use to think 80 was over the hill,” she joked. “I don’t feel any different.”

She was happy to have her close friend Mrs Ryan beside her and overwhelmed as her friends continued to greet her.

“The list keeps coming...My cousin Mary and I grew up together, we shared all sorts of teenage fun and happy times together,” Mrs Booth said.

Mrs Booth was taken on a trip down memory lane with a presentation of her life displayed on slide show showing her past 80 years which featured her late husband and previous local member for Warwick, Des Booth.
