From friends to trial

THE wife of a man who was allegedly beaten with nunchucks by an ex-employee has taken to the witness stand in Bundaberg District Court.

Sharon resident Trudie Turner yesterday said her life had been turned upside down by the alleged attack on her partner on June 21, 2010.

Rodney James Flick is accused of bashing Turner's partner Shane Anthony Eric Hansen after a verbal altercation outside Sharon School.

During cross examination, Turner said she and her partner, along with Flick and his wife, had been good friends for about 10 years prior to the incident.

But things turned sour when Flick was working as a subcontractor for Hansen.

"He did the wrong thing by us by doing rough jobs," Ms Turner said.

The witness said Flick eventually stopped working for Hansen and while the men did not talk, Ms Turner and Flick's wife Danielle were still friends until problems arose between their children, causing their friendship to end.

Lawyer Peter Zufic put to Turner that she became "antisocial and aggressive" towards Mrs Flick.

"You would call out words such as s**t, mole and c**t to Danielle Flick," Mr Zufic said.

"No that's not right," she said.

"They're words her husband called me on June 21."

It is alleged that Rodney Flick verbally abused Turner as she picked up her daughter from school on June 21 before heading to her house and bashing her partner.

Mr Zufic showed a series of photographs to Turner which showed her giving a rude hand gesture to Danielle Flick as she drove past.

Ms Turner said Mrs Flick had begun following her around with a video camera and while she usually ignored it, she did not on that day.

The trial continues.
