FUEL GUIDE: Warwick paying too much for our petrol
AS THE holidays approach, many families pack up the kids and head for a drive.
Residents depending on reasonable fuel prices are in for a rude shock however, as Warwick, along with many parts of the state, suffer from excessive fuel prices.
As of 8.30am this morning, no petrol station in Warwick was below 139.5 cents per litre for unleaded fuel.
RACQ spokeswoman Renee Smith said prices were above what the group was hoping for.
"The average price in Warwick is 139.9, and that is nearly five cents more than what we believe is fair,” Ms Smith said.
"Service stations holding prices around that mark eliminates the opportunity to shop around. Motorists should fill up where prices are dropping, and avoid places with higher prices.
"There has been a recent increase in global oil prices, which have pushed up prices across much of the state, and they've gone up a little further than we'd like to see.”
Despite the steep prices, Ms Smith said motorists in Warwick were still better off than our neighbours.
"The average price in Brisbane and Ipswich is 147 cents per litre, and in Toowoomba motorists are paying 141 cents per litre,” she said.
"It's not great news heading into Christmas.”
