Funding for road 'black spots'
A NUMBER of black spots on Southern Downs roads are set to receive funding, after Federal LNP Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott yesterday announced more than $650,000 in funding to target black spot road projects in the Southern Downs region.
Mr Scott said nine nominated black spot road projects in the Southern Downs region would be made safer.
"Under the Black Spot Program $663,400 will be directed to target traffic safety concerns in the Southern Downs," he said.
"Traffic crashes and injuries have occurred at these identified black spots so this funding will be directly targeted to make these dangerous locations safer."
The projects will be delivered during the 2015-16 financial year.
The money will go towards several projects, including, but not limited to, the following:
$114,000 to upgrade delineation, install new chevron alignment markers and shoulder widening on two curves on Jingarry-Mt Sturt Rd from Warwick-Yangan Road, Yangan.
$44,600 to install 'Stop' signs and centre line markings, ban parking near the intersection and remove sight impediments at the Guy-Pratten St intersection, Warwick.
$44,600 to improve intersection visibility, change 'Give Way' signs to 'Stop' signs and remove parking near the Grafton- Wantley St intersection, Warwick.
$44,600 to improve visibility, change 'Give Way' to 'Stop' signs and remove parking near the Dragon-Fitzroy St intersection, Warwick.
$44,600 to improve visibility, change 'Give Way' to 'Stop' signs and remove parking near the Pratten-Tooth St intersection, Warwick.
$43,000 to install a raised painted median and additional 'Stop' and warning signs at the Grafton-Canning St intersection, Warwick.
