Gallen hospital visit a publicity stunt - Watts

NEW South Wales and Cronulla captain Paul Gallen says he will be ready to take on former Sharks teammate Anthony Watts in a heavyweight fight in Sydney tomorrow night.

Gallen was hospitalised last week after picking up a golden staph infection, but said he was confident he would fine by fight time.

"I'm fine now. I trained yesterday and I'm building the energy levels up," he said at a media conference. "I'll be right for Wednesday."

The pair will clash on the undercard of the Daniel Geale v Jarrod Fletcher fight at the Horden Pavilion.

Watts, released after a three-month jail sentence four months ago, won his only professional fight in just 29 seconds and said he thought Gallen's trip to hospital was a publicity stunt. "I think it's just an excuse when I flog him," Watts said.

The 28-year-old made his debut in the ring on the Gold Coast a month ago and wants to make a career of boxing.
