CROWDS piled in to the Eat Street Market at Yangan today, where funds were being raised to support the small community's survival.

It's been a tough slog for the town, according to organiser Brett Stewart.

"It's important for everyone to show up today to help the town survive,” Mr Stewart said.

"We're fundraising for the sports ground, the school, the hall and the CWA.

"And if it means we can bring the community together - Then that's just killing two birds with one stone.”

Mr Stewart said he hoped a cheerful, family-friendly event such as Eat Street would help farmers forget their worries, even if only for one day.

"It'd help with the depression,” he said.

Country crooners took to the stage behind the Yangan Hotel to welcome the large crowds as they filed through the gates.

"I'm amazed at the turn out,” Mr Stewart said.

"And I'm amazed at how much support we've had.

"It just goes to show, when you ask the community, they will help.”

There is still time to take part! The Eat Street Market will be open until 8pm tonight. Entry is just a gold coin donation until dinner service, when it becomes $10.
