GALLERY: Warwick High students catch up 60 years on
CATCHING up with old mates was the order of the day as more than 100 former Warwick State High School students attended a reunion at Hawker Road Function Centre yesterday.
Students who attended the school from 1956 to 1961 came from all over the Southern Downs, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and beyond.
Organiser John Overstead said the camaraderie was still well and truly alive.
"There's a lot to be said for the bonds formed during all of our years at Warwick High,” he said.
"It speaks volumes about the time, the school and the community of Warwick.
"A lot of the people haven't seen some of the others attending today for 50 years.”
The large group enjoyed a lunch and a few drinks before the cameras came out to document the occasion.
Mr Overstead said they were already planning another large reunion in 2020.
"It was a big job finding everyone,” he said.
"But with the help of people here in Warwick, and word of mouth, we did. Now we're getting everyone's email addresses for next time.”
