Gallery welcomes out of this world exhibition

SPACE has come to the Warwick Art Gallery with the opening of a new exhibition titled iNASA.

The exhibition, by Glasshouse Mountains artist David Howard, comprises 30 paintings that narrate a story about two little astronauts and a mysterious third character.

The exhibition, which is part of Artslink Queensland's Exhibition Touring Program, opened yesterday just in time for school holidays and will be on display until February 2.

Warwick Art Gallery director Karina Devine said the exhibition will appeal to both adults and children.

"Kids will love it - there's so much to see in the paintings," Ms Devine said.

"Adults will love the intellectual opportunities to interpret messages within the paintings about the artist's life."

Ms Devine said the exhibition shows striking technique and strong graphic style.

"iNASA is a stunning collective group," she said.

"It's definitely worth looking at."

Children visiting the exhibition will have the opportunity to interpret the exhibiton with an activity sheet designed by the artist.

Artist David Howard will be in town in January for a special event at the gallery on Friday, January 17 at 6pm.

He will also hold a workshop guiding children through a painting activity inspired by his exhibition at the gallery the following Saturday 9.30am-12.30pm.

Tickets to the workshop are $5 each and must be pre-booked by phoning 4661 0434.

The Warwick Art Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday from 10am-4pm and Saturday-Sunday from 10am-1pm. The gallery will be closed from Christmas Day to New Year's Day.
