NICK Morris has traded footy boots with the

Wattles Warriors in winter for a bat and gloves for the Allora cricket team in summer.

At the weekend, he played at Allora in a win against new team Redbacks.

Morris scored an unbeaten 97 to be our Daily News Weekend Warrior.

Allora still had seven overs to bat when the winning runs were scored but the game was called off at the end of the over.

The scorers then counted up his score and found Morris was three short of his first century.

A few extra balls are sometimes bowled after the win is secured and Morris only wanted one more boundary.

He didn't lose too much sleep over missing his hundred.

"It was the best innings of my career so far,” he said.

His previous best was 69. Morris was well supported by Mitch McLennan who made 30 and Alan Shanks who scored 27 not out.

Jamie Saunders scored 109 for Redbacks in 209.

Saunders might be a football (soccer) player but has joined the Redbacks Aussie rules cricket team.
