Then let's get into the most highly-anticipated death of HBO's lethal fantasy drama.

The death of boy king Joffrey Baratheon in today's new episode, which aired in the US a few hours ago and just finished on the Showcase Channel here in Australia, shocked any viewers who haven't already read about the "Purple Wedding" in the books.

Unlike the deaths of beloved characters like Ned Stark and most of the rest of the Stark family in last season's infamous Red Wedding episode, Joffrey's untimely end was one we were all waiting and hoping for.

The spoiled royal is easily the show's most hated character and has inspired an amusing series of Justin Bieber-related memes.

Joffrey meets his end at the banquet after his wedding to Margaery Tyrell, when he chokes on a poison hidden either in the wedding cake or his wine glass. Either way, he got his just deserts.

It's a moment you almost don't believe is actually happening. You want it to happen after Joffrey is so horrible to his guests, particularly his uncle Tyrion, but he's been cruel so many times before and got away with it.

His distraught mother Cersei immediately accuses her brother Tyrion, and the Lannisters, the current ruling family of Westeros, looks set to implode.

Tyrion's new wife Sansa makes a run for it, making him look all the more guilty.

It will be interesting to see next week if Tyrion, or anyone else, is able to talk some sense into the grieving Cersei.

And of course we all want to know who did the citizens of Westeros a favour by poisoning the vile king Joffrey. There were certainly plenty of wedding guests with motivations to do so.
