Games icon for half marathon
AT AGE 49, Commonwealth Games medallist Steve Moneghetti will be in Warwick on May 26-27 for the 10th annual Pentath-run.
Moneghetti hails from Ballarat and has competed in four Commonwealth Games, where he won a full set of medals, gold, silver and bronze.
Race director Robert Stewart said he had been told Moneghetti still ran every day.
"He is coming to be competitive," Stewart said.
"We are paying Steve an appearance fee.
"He will speak at a dinner on Saturday night and we are looking for a club keen to do the catering for a crowd of 200 to 250 as a fund-raiser."
Moneghetti first rose to prominence as a 10,000m runner before moving to the marathon.
His first event in Warwick will be the half-marathon to Yangan on the Saturday morning. The final event will be the most foreign to Moneghetti, the 1500m in Palmerin St.
Stewart said runners didn't often get a chance to compete alongside national representatives.

7.15am: 10km Killarney Ascent
11.30am: 1500m Warwick CBD run
