Garden keeps the peace
MAYOR Ron Bellingham said he feels a sense of togetherness and peace as he sits in the new Peace Garden in Victoria Park, opposite the Warwick Hospital.
Cr Bellingham officially opened the garden on Saturday afternoon as a large group of entertainers and supporters crammed into a small marquee as rain bucketed down.
"This garden will be appreciated by people who sit in there, just like you were before it rained," Cr Bellingham said.
"It gives a sense of community to the people around you as you sit with people who care enough to embrace the word 'peace'.
"This garden is in a marvellous historic park."
Peace Garden committee chairwoman Lenore Neville and designer Bill Greer were invited to join Cr Bellingham beside the plaque for the opening, but Mrs Neville insisted each committee member join in.
