Geitz leads Firebirds into game against South Africa

AFTER a win against England, the Laura Geitz captained Australia has three wins from four games as it approaches tonight's game against South Africa in the Netball World Cup.

Geitz played four quarters against England in a 51-41 win as did her partner in defence, Julie Corletto.

The former Allora junior had one rebound, three intercepts and seven deflections in the game.

Australia lead at each break and won each quarter. The closest was the fourth quarter which the Australian Diamonds won 12-11.

The Diamonds play South Africa tonight in the late game in Sydney and then Wales on Friday night as team battle it out for positions going into the classification matches and finals.

Last night, Jamaica held New Zealand to a 55-48 win so has the form to cause an upset.

The Jamaica team included Queensland Firebirds shooter Romela Aiken.
