Geitz pleased at surgery success

LAURA Geitz is on the mend after knee surgery and the Queensland captain expects to be ready to fire in the new year.

Geitz underwent off-season left knee surgery after a scare in Australia's Test series against England, which ruled the Allora talent out of the final two matches.

"I'm glad I went in and had the procedure done and I am ready and raring to go for pre-season," she said.

"I obviously have to take it pretty easy the first few weeks but I'm looking to be back out on court late January, early February, and ultimately I want to be 100% for our pre-season tournament in February.

"The best thing is there is no pain there now and that is probably the first time in the last few seasons I have had that, and we are only talking three weeks post-surgery.

"I am in a better position to start pre-season than what I would have been if I did not have the scope done."
