'Get out you sicko': threat for dad in parents' room

A WOMAN who found a man changing his baby's nappy in a shopping centre change room told him she would falsely accuse him of leering at her nude children if he did not leave immediately, it has been claimed.

Mikaa Ives, posting to the Sunny Coast Community Board, said the woman told the father, who had been struggling to change the nappy in a parents room at Kawana Shoppingworld, "it's only for mothers, get out you sicko" before threatening to call security and claim he had been staring at her two young children while they were naked, even though both were fully clothed.

The tactic worked and the father, his distraught child's nappy still not changed, left the room to wait outside the room until his tormentor had left.

Ms Ives said the man was able to come back in only because she intervened, telling the woman she would back the dad with security.

Should mums and dads have separate parents' rooms?

This poll ended on 21 October 2017.

"I was BEYOND disgusted," Ms Ives posted.

"Old mate finished changing his son, thanked me and off he went.

"As I left I spoke to a security guard walking past - told him what the other mother had done and said.

"I was absolutely shocked that the poor bloke felt he had no choice but to leave like she said."

The post was greeted with outraged surprise from many of commenters on the community board, but also with comments from many men who said they had suffered similar experiences in parents rooms.

"I'm a dad 'n copped the same when ever I had to change my sons nappy," commented Darren Belling

"Didn't move just told them to did whatever they needed to do to feel better about themselves. This women sounds like the same type of person who parks in wheelchair spaces cause pram parks are all taken or uses the only disabled toilet 'cause I have a kid n need to pee!

"Screw u lady, get a grip on reality and good on you."

"As a single dad I have experienced this on the Coast too many times," commented Michael Vee.

"Thank you for standing up for this guy. When someone kicks you out of a parent's room you literally have no where to go with your children, it's good to know that there are people out there who care."

"As a single dad of three boys you have no idea how many times this has happened to me - I could not count them, because I am male I cannot be anything other than a sick bastard," commented John Sperring.

"Thankyou for sticking up for a Father's duty of care and rights."

"Thank you thank you thank you!" commented Cass Harper.

"My husband has been abused three times in the parents room changing our daughter. Unfortunately it's quite common. So I just wanted to thank you for saying something. You Go girl!"

"Happens to me all the time, when I have my Daughter for the holidays I dread taking her out because I've had mothers sling me abuse and threaten me for simply doing single Father's duty, been copping this flak for 10 years now," commented Jah-red Sharkey.

And the problem didn't end with change rooms.

"Oh "parents with pram parking" you mean mothers only parking right? Copped abuse for parking there, (parents) room copped that every time, being a responsible and active father whilst your child is on the playground, copped it there too," he continued.
