Get ready, angus stud has 'best yet' up for grabs

THE team at Glenisa Angus are busily preparing for their eighth annual on-property bull sale at Glen Aplin.

Glenisa principal Ced Wise said the past 12 months had presented the usual challenges to beef producers.

"While some areas have received excellent rain, others have all but missed out.

"In addition, the now almost expected hindrance from some political quarters mean cattle producers must strive to meet community expectations in regard to animal welfare and environmental stewardship of our land. Ultimately this requires ever-increasing efficiency of beef production in systems that have the ability to access as many markets as possible.

"Worldwide it seems angus cattle, either as purebreds or bos taurus or bos indicus crosses, fit the bill,” the respected breeder said.

Glenisa Angus strives to breed well-muscled cattle, bigger but not extreme framed, slick coated and quiet. Mr Wise said the 2018 draft of 56 black angus bulls was the stud's best yet at demonstrating progress in these areas.

The draft includes 20 bulls sired by DSK RR Jimbob J21. Excellent young bulls with a slightly more moderate frame with heaps of muscle and great temperaments.

As well there are six embryo transfer calves sired by Jindra Double Vision (US), SAV Net Worth (US) and Young Dale Xcaliber 32X (CAN) out of Glenisa's elite donor females. Other sires include Deer Valley All In, Sydgen Black Pearl and Raff Dynamite G156.

The sale starts 1pm Friday, May 18, at the on-property sale facility accessed via Townsend Rd. The bulls will be available for inspection from 9am or phone 0409050267 or (07)46834353.
