Giants' Whitfield earns round 10 Rising Star nomination

DESPITE acknowledging playing at the top level was "harder than I thought it would be", Giants young gun Lachie Whitfield has been rewarded with the NAB Rising Star nomination for round 10.

Last year's No.1 draft pick gathered 21 disposals and kicked a goal in Saturday's 94-point loss to Carlton.

The 18-year-old has averaged 17 possessions, five marks and three tackles in his nine senior games this season.
