Gift of new sheets welcome donation

AT A time of year when presents are being swapped in all corners of the Southern Downs, sometimes the best gift of all is the one you give to someone else.

The generous staff at Campbell Page donated some much-needed bed sheets to the Warwick Safe Haven just in time for Christmas.

Campbell Page business manager Jennie Porter said she and her staff were only too keen to help out a worthy cause.

"We really believe in the Safe Haven and have a strong passion for it," Mrs Porter said.

Safe Haven's Bette Bonney was grateful to receive the sheets and said it was donations like this that kept Warwick Safe Haven up and running.

"It's a sign the community is right behind us and that sense of community is encouraging and helps keep us going," Mrs Bonney said.

With financial pressures and an increase in alcohol consumption, Mrs Bonney said the number of domestic violence cases usually spiked over the Christmas and New Year period.

"Unfortunately it's a time when we experience a bit of a peak in domestic violence issues for various reasons so it's good to know we have what is needed at that time," Mrs Bonney said.

"I urge families to think carefully before spending at this time of year."
