Gillam ready to shine
CHRIS Gillam can't wait for his first chance in the Australian Country Championships when Queensland plays Western Australia in a two-day game starting in Canberra this morning.
The Nobby batsman scored five runs batting at number 7 in the Queensland Country win against the Queensland Academy of Sport team at Allan Border Oval at the weekend.
He came in with seven overs to go and was caught.
The QAS side scored 380 on Saturday and Country passed the score six wickets down. Kingaroy batsman Anthony Eden scored 144 not out.
Sydney trip
WARWICK paceman Mark Steketee will head to Sydney with the Brisbane Heat side for the game against Sydney Thunder tomorrow night.
He is a strong chance for his second start after taking 1-15 off two pacey overs on debut last Thursday.
The Heat has one win from four games this season and must win all remaining games to have a finals chance.
