Give orienteering a shot

PEOPLE interested in healthy outdoor recreation are been invited to attend two Come and Try It days organised by the Bullecourt Boulder Bounders Orienteering Club.

The first event will be held on Saturday on grazing land at the end of Barnes Road, Applethorpe, with starts from 2pm until 4pm.

On February 28 there will be another introductory event at Stanthorpe showgrounds from 9am to 11am.

The events have been organised to launch the 2010 season, with monthly events being held until October.

Publicity officer Liz Bourne said both venues were ideal for newcomers to as they were open, with good visibility making navigation easier.

“We will have experienced members at both events to help newcomers learn basic map reading and navigational skills.” she said.

No special gear is required but people should wear sensible footwear and a hat. Entry is $5.
