Giving thanks to Wildash firies

RESIDENTS from Wildash and surrounding areas will be able to say thanks and give back to the firies who worked tirelessly to protect their homes in recent fires.

Cherrabah Resort is hosting a community barbecue tomorrow to say thankyou to the Wildash Rural Fire Brigade and raise funds to help them through the forecast perilous summer.

Wildash Fire Brigade secretary/treasurer Eileen Scott said the barbecue at Cherrabah Resort was all about trying to get as many people together to show their support.

"The more people we can get here the better," she said.

"We're just trying to get people to support the firies and let them know to stay vigilant."

When fire burned just four kilometres from Cherrabah last month, fire bombers were coming in and filling up with water from the resort's dam.

For operations manager Fran Edney, the brigade givers her peace of mind during times of high fire danger.

"We're happy to support them - I know I'd be useless in a fire," she said.

Everyone can enjoy swimming and entertainment at the barbecue, with bookings essential by phoning 4667 9177.

  •  Where: Cherrabah Resort
  •  When: Tomorrow, 4pm
  •  Cost: $20 adults, $10 for kids (5 - 13 years)
