Glengallan Trust hopes to undress history of gown

THE centrepiece of the Glengallan Homestead Heritage Festival is dressed to impress this weekend.

The 19th century dinner gown forms part of a special display, featuring some of the finest pieces from the homestead’s historical collection.

The silk gown, cut in natural form with bodice and skirt in one piece and long darts to accentuate the bust, waist and hips, features a run of silk-covered buttons at centre-front, intricate silk crimping and tassels.

The Glengallan Homestead Trust is keen to find out more about the history of the dress, including information about the original owner.

It is not known if the dress has any local family connection.

The dress will be on display today and tomorrow at the homestead from 10am–4pm.

Anyone with more information about the dress is encouraged to phone Donna Fraser on 0417781136 or email info@glengallan. org.au.
