THEY have been training for months and rookie boxers Craig Windle and Nick Newley are both ready to take to the ring for their first fights.

Warwick Rose City Boxing Club trainer Damien Lawler said the boys had been training for about three months.

"It will be their first fight with the QABAI," he said.

"The fight is happening at Beenleigh Tavern (tomorrow).

"They have been training really well and are ready to go.

"I'm expecting big things from them.

"The state title is halfway through the year and I'm setting them up for that."

Eleven-year-old Newley said it was a good sport to participate in.

"I like getting into the ring and having a bit of a punch up," he said.

Windle on the other had said it was just "good fun".

Newley will fight in the 35-38 category and Windle in the 75-81.

Lawler said he was happy to train any one else looking to get into the sport.

He trains from the Warwick Boxing Club.

People looking to join can phone Lawler on 4661 2963.

Stay tuned for results on how the two rookies went in their first fight.
