Man in court over beheading of goats on Greenlands property

A MAN who allegedly entered a Greenlands property on New Year's Day and took part in the beheading of three goats has appeared in court.

Nathan Joseph Limpus appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court earlier this month and is charged with killing animals with intent to steal.

Police allege the 20-year-old was one of five men who were disturbed by a landholder that evening.

The landholder told police the men ran away into the bush when he confronted them.

Shortly after chasing them away, he made the grisly discovery of the bodies of three goats, which had all been shot and killed with arrows before they were beheaded.

The Logan Village man's matter was adjourned during his court appearance this month.

He is due to front the court again on December 10.

If found guilty of the alleged offence, Limpus faces up to five years behind bars.

Stock theft is estimated to cost Queensland producers about $2 million annually.
