Gold Coast shooting range shut down after death

A SHOOTING range inside a Surfers Paradise shopping precinct was shut down on Sunday evening after a man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police were called to the Australian Shooting Academy about 6.30pm, located in Centro Surfers Paradise on busy Cavill Avenue.

The 38-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene.

A police spokesman said the death was non-suspicious and a report would be prepared for the coroner. He said it was likely Workplace Health and Safety would investigate.
