SHANE Hurst travelled from the Gold Coast to set up stall at the Rose City Country Markets in Australiana Park yesterday.

In fact, he made a weekend of it after attending markets in Toowoomba on Saturday.

"It was my first time in Warwick and not too bad," he said.

He sells children's toys and woodcrafted mini animals and said going to the markets was a weekend thing.

"I have a full-time job in Brisbane from Monday to Friday," he said.

Markets co-ordinator Pat Johnstone said the markets were at a bit quieter yesterday.

"The cold weather had an impact and perhaps the Ekka and the rate notices," she said.

Brian Mitchell was one of the market holders with different combinations of horseshoes welded together as part of a wide variety of sale items.

"I am retired and this is a hobby and fills in time," Mr Mitchell said.

"I love to weld."

Warwick Animal Welfare is a regular with a fund-raising sausage sizzle at the markets in Australiana Park.

Member Lorraine Goldspink said the sausage sizzle raised vital money to help de-sex, microchip and immunise animals that the organisation was re-homing.

"We are always looking for people who are prepared to help with fund-raising and with re-homing animals and they can call me on 0447 801 909," she said.

The Australiana Park markets are on the second Sunday of each month.
