Tansey wins in extra time

TANSEY beat Warwick in extra time to win the NTI Rose Bowl Polocrosse final at Morgan Park yesterday.

Warwick captain Cameron Shepherd said his side had a four-goal lead halfway through the last chukka.

"The Tansey players didn't give up and finished the game well," he said.

"Everyone wants to win the Rose Bowl.

"We also went down to Tansey in a close game last year."

In golden-point extra time, Tansey No 2 Matt Johnson caught the ball in the line-up and passed to Clayton Sarod for the winning goal.

Shepherd expects the top four teams - Warwick, Tansey, Grafton and Wandoan - to field similar teams in the state championships in a fortnight as they fielded at the weekend.

In the junior and intermediate Australian squad games, the Green teams won both, which means Southern Downs trio Jacob Lawrence, Carly Cooper and Ryle Waugh were winners in front of their home crowd.
