Golfers tee off for four round club championships

GOLF: Warwick golfers will play the first two rounds of the club championships this weekend.

The final two rounds will be played next week with trophies up for grabs in A, B, C and veterans grades for both men and ladies.

Reigning club champions Tim Sutton and Sam Hinze will be out to retain their titles.

Sutton's toughest opposition will come from Kris McLennan, Geoff Hinze and Luke Munro with Eamon Cockram a chance of an upset.

In the ladies, Hinze is the reigning club and zone champion and odds-on favourite to retain her title.

Marg Adcock, Jill Barnes, Anna Cox, Judy Lester, Mary Young, Gwen Mills and Mel McLennan have handicaps between 10 and 14 but will need to play well to match it with Hinze.

Late last year, McLennan represented the Downs and South West Golf Association in the Meg Nunn Salver state final and Lester is one of the form players this year after winning the single stableford competition at the annual association executive challenge held at Cecil Plains last month.

Spots still available on the time sheet for club members.
