Good start to weekend on the roads
MOTORISTS have been praised for their adherence to the road rules early in the Christmas holiday break but police urge motorists to keep up the good work.
Senior Constable John Fletcher, of Wallangarra police, said police were up and down the New England Highway most of Saturday and did not issue a ticket.
"Motorists travelling in our area should be commended for showing consideration for other road users,” Sen. Const. Fletcher said.
"Please maintain adherence to road rules and beware speeding, drink driving and fatigue are three of the major factors in road accidents.
"Police will be out on the roads in force during Christmas, we will be everywhere, not just on the highway.”
He said the volume of traffic started increasing late Friday.
"The highest volume of traffic was on Saturday, there was a significant increase compared to a normal weekend,” he said.
"The Driver Reviver stop at Wallangarra has been popular with motorists.”
