Goodstart Early Learning named business award finalist
STAFF members of Goodstart Early Learning centre on Percy St are excited their workplace has been named as a finalist of this year's Business Excellence Awards.
The child care centre has been nominated previously but this is the first time they have made it through to the finals.
Centre Director Megan Davis said it would be great to be recognised for the hard work and passion of her staff.
"We are both nervous and excited about being named finalists," Mrs Davis said. "It's a great chance for us to get recognised for our work in the community.
"We would like to think we are an integral part of the Warwick community and that we are the centre of choice for many families."
This is Megan's second year as Centre Director for Goodstart Early Learning and said she had set herself a goal of making the award nominations this year.
"The awards are a great chance to get down on paper not only our goals, but also to take stock of what we have been doing," Mrs Davis said.
"It's always good to look at where we have been, where we are now and what is to come."
Goodstart Early Learning has invested heavily in the two Warwick sites recently and the increased support has allowed the two locations to explore new programs.
Both the Percy St and Wood St centres were selected to be part of the EChO (Enhanced Children Outcome) program, which seeks to enhance children's outcomes.
The EChO program is a new Goodstart initiative, aimed at linking local community organisations with the Rose City's two centres.
The program looks to link the Goodstart centres with a range of associated organisations including Red Cross, Pathways to Resilience and fellow BEA finalists, BUSHkids.
The five-year program is part of the centre's goal of providing children with the best possible assistance during their formative years.
"We have a strong focus on providing additional development for the children and we provide very good pathways for referral," Mrs Davis said. "With the program we have been able to bring in speech and language therapists to help our staff better interact with the children."
Mrs Davis said she would be bringing her staff and their families along to enjoy the night and was looking forward to the entertainment.
"I'm sure it will be a unique night and we are really looking forward to it," Mrs Davis said. "It's a great chance for businesses that make a contribution to our wonderful community."
The Goodstart Early Learning centre will be competing for the Customer Focus category of the Business Excellence Awards on Saturday night.
All finalists will also be competing for the title of Overall Winner, which was won last year by The Cherry Tree Cafe.
Held at the King's Theatre on August, 29 tickets are still available for the night from the Warwick RSL.
